Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall- Montego Bay, Jamaica

It’s not often that we get to vacation with our extended family, but I’m grateful that everyone’s schedules aligned so that we were able to celebrate my mom’s 75th birthday earlier this year. We visited one of her favorite places, Montego Bay, Jamaica and stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall all-inclusive resort. The resort was beautiful and offered tons of amenities for our family of 13.

Resort Features

The resort has a pool for kids, activities pool, hot tubs, world-class fitness center, oceanside fire pits, and free Wi-Fi. We rented cabanas every day and loved spending time by the pool.  Although we did not check out the fitness center, my mom, sisters and I enjoyed a few of the aqua aerobics’ classes, which allowed us to have fun while getting a workout in.

Activities and Entertainment

My sisters and mom participated in a dance contest, which looked like a lot of fun. My oldest sister and her sons had a great experience on the catamaran. Other things to do include setting sail on a kayak, working out in the fitness center, the kidz club, daily activities/games, music and entertainment. You can also check out the spa, beauty salon, sauna/steam room, cabanas and premium private dining (additional costs may be associated).

Dining and Drinks

One benefit of enjoying an all-inclusive resort is the fact that you can eat whatever, whenever and as often as you like. Hyatt Ziva Resort has 12 restaurants, bars and lounges. We dined at the ChoiceZ buffet restaurant each morning for breakfast. ChoiceZ offers lots of different foods with live cooking stations. Everyone found great options to choose from. We enjoyed Petit Pariz, which serves French-style food. Fuzion Modern Asian Cuisine was one of my favorite dinner spots. The chefs prepare the food in front of you, like what many of us have experienced before. Blue Grill at Calypzo offers Caribbean Cuisine. We enjoyed a late dinner there. Barefoot Jerkz is located along the beach. We visited every day and devoured the jerk chicken, rice and peas. Bitez is the perfect spot for any type of dessert or sweet treat you desire. We all enjoyed ice cream, cookies and pastries. The kids were so excited to indulge. For late night drinks/cocktails, we enjoyed Shakerz open-air bar. We got burgers and fries from Fez while at the pool. Of course, 24 hour in-suite dining is available, which my older nephews loved.

Suites

My husband, son and I stayed in the King suite. It was nice, but unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the fact that a lizard got in our room. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know this happened to us last year in Mexico. (I recognize that this is something that can happen when in the Caribbean since those creatures are almost everywhere). I honestly believe it got in when housekeeping came to clean the room, since they leave the doors open when cleaning. Although it took a while, we were able to get a different room. I won’t go into any more detail regarding that, but that portion of the trip was a bummer. Besides that, our overall experience at the Hyatt Ziva was pleasant.
