40-40-40 Birthday Challenge

Although the busyness of life has had me doing some of everything besides putting me first, I’m determined to do things differently this year by honoring the promises I make to myself. I figured I’d start with a fitness goal and focus on my health and wellness. One commitment I have is to get more active. As I approach a new decade next month, I’ve decided that I will move my body 40 minutes a day for 40 days leading up to my 40th birthday. Moving my body may consist of walking, lifting weights, stretching, Pilates, yoga or any other type of exercise that I decide to do. I don’t have a specific amount of weight or inches I want to loose. I just want to get back to being active on a regular basis and making better food choices (i.e. eating more at home and using the WW app that I’ve been paying for and not using).

I can’t wait to see how things change for me physically and mentally. I started my first workout today, and I have to say that I feel great. I think the tough part is starting, and next being consistent. I realize that I can’t always rely on motivation because I most likely won’t feel like doing this everyday, but I’m dedicated to developing my discipline muscle in the area of fitness and wellness. My hope is that this practice will spill over into other areas of my life. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.

How are you showing up for yourself this year?
