Motherhood Reflections: Ways to Honor Yourself

May is a month filled with celebrations for my family. Between Mother’s Day, my birthday, and my son’s birthday, I can’t help but think about my motherhood journey. I am in awe, as my baby approaches the big three in a few days. It seems like not long ago we were bringing him home. The saying “the days are long, but the years are short”, certainly holds true. When I think about motherhood, many words/thoughts come to mind. Words like grateful, blessed, tired, long, special, busy, thankful, and labor of love, to name a few. The responsibilities we have as mothers (in addition to our other responsibilities), can sometimes be daunting and take a toll on you. While reflecting, I created a list of things I’m striving for more of. These are things I plan to focus on. Taking time to prioritize these types of things is a way in which I will honor myself. You too, can do the same thing. Take a moment to create a personalized list for yourself, or borrow some of these ideas. As moms, we must take time to prioritize our health and wellbeing, because if we don’t, we can’t effectively take care of others.Time with GodRelaxing guilt freeUnplugged time with familyFacialPraying with intentionMe timeA girl’s tripA massageMonthly date nightEliminating imposter syndromeFinding trustworthy/reliable babysitters and actually using them lolBeing a good steward of my moneyRegular mani/pedi appointmentsChoosing healthy foodsHiring help/getting somebody else to do itMonthly outings with friendsShopping with intentionLess time aimlessly scrollingTherapyExerciseMore time creatingReading a good bookDo you need to consider your own needs more, and honor yourself as a busy mom?
