Wedding Update: The Cake

I’m back with a few updates on my wedding preparations. I booked the most awesome business in N.C. to make my wedding cake. Initially, I assumed that I’d get my cake from one of the popular places here in my city. Mainly because their cakes taste really good and my sister used them for her wedding and things went well. My sister (who’s planning the bulk of my wedding), stumbled upon Edible Artistry one day while on Instagram, and I’m so glad she did. Once I looked at the pictures of Edible Artistry’s cake creations, I knew I wanted to give them a try. I saw that they were attending a Bridal Show in my city, so my fiancé and I purchased tickets so we could learn more about the company. We tasted the samples and they were absolutely delicious! They were flavorful and moist; the kind of cake that’s not just pretty, but taste amazing!Immediately, we knew that we’d be scheduling a cake tasting. A couple weeks later we met with Ms. Elaine who is the owner of Edible Artistry. My parents accompanied us at the tasting and after trying the many flavors offered, we all were sold! In addition to tasting, we decided on the design of our cake. I won’t go into details now, but believe me it’s going to be gorgeous! (Don’t worry, after the wedding, I’ll be sure to post several pictures of the cake!)Another reason why I’m so glad I learned about Edible Artistry is the fact that it’s a women-owned, and black owned small business. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I like to support small businesses, minority owned businesses, and women owned businesses. In fact, my goal is to use as many of these types of businesses as possible while preparing for my wedding. So far, I’m working with around 8 businesses that fall into one or more of those categories!
